Health - Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust

The ORH is a large acute Trust comprising some 8000 staff and spread over four sites, the John Radcliffe Hospital, the Churchill Hospital, the Radcliffe Infirmary, and the Horton Hospital. Closely identified with the Oxford University and Oxford Brookes University, the ORH also has a strong academic element to it. The Trust is divided into four Divisions that span the four sites.

Cygnet's work with the ORH began some seven years ago with the winning of a tender for a leadership development programme focusing on junior - middle managers in the Trust.

Since that time, Cygnet's professionalism, approach and philosophy has resonated strongly with the Staff and Management at the ORH. This has resulted in several initiatives:

  • The development of bespoke leadership programmes for different levels, the latest of which is a programme for Senior Managers and Clinical Leaders which has been recognised by the Royal College of Physicians for CPD points.
  • Consultancy services for each of the three Operational Divisions.
  • Design and delivery of various workshops around the management disciplines. For example, Recruitment and Selection, Appraisal training for Appraisers and Appraisees, Assertiveness training; Project Management; Stress management, Problem-solving and Decision making, etc.
  • Mediation services in cases of dysfunctional relationships, or team dysfunction.
  • Psychometric profiling.
  • Consultant Mentoring.
  • Facilitation of Department and Team Away Days.

Cygnet has established an excellent working partnership with the Trust and is committed to seeing the Trust increasing its effectiveness in delivering the highest quality of care to patients and in attracting, retaining and developing high quality Staff.
